What was supposed to be a marvelous Valentine's Day was almost immediate overturned by Kyohei's confession. The roses, that look on his face as he presented them to her. For a moment she smiled, stared him in the face and tried to read his expression.

But she could not. She had never seen Kyohei look like that before, she had never heard him say these things and even in her own fantasies she never imagined what it would actually feel like.

Shame on her, her immediate thought was that she was stuck in some kind of warped fantasy.

“I'm... Dota-chin!” she frowned, holding her hands out in front of her, “Yahh, this kind of joke is too much! You're supposed to be serious on Valentine's Day! And not tease people with confessions of love!”

Was he just playing along to some kind of game? Telling her that he had feelings for her just because she would be otherwise alone on Valentine's Day? “You don't have to pretend something like that... if you want to take me somewhere you don't have to make jokes!”

“Haru-chan! Haru-chan, look what I made!”

She handed off to him a small bowl wrapped with celophane – in which was a small mound of fluffy, chocolate, whipped foodstuff.

“It's mousse! Hey, don't give me a weird look or anything, I spend all day trying to make it and I even had Mika-chan over to help me. She knows what she's doing, so I'm sure it tastes great!”

“It's that time of the year again.” And, of course, she had to give him something to commemorate another year of being friends... despite the small blunder they'd had several months back.

“I won't stall--” she handed a small box to him, “Please enjoy it.”

Inside was a brand new box of his cigarette brand... all of which she had cleverly replaced with a candy variety.
