A Poem for the Fine Girls
This is for the fine girls
The ones that stand at the back
The ones who have to practice the “right” way to act.
This is for the girls who were always left behind
And also for the ones who were thrust into the light.
The girls who look in the mirror and see a dying corpse. A crooked, fake smile that hides her remorse.
This is for the ones who are told to take their meds when they actually speak out loud and turn a couple heads.
Girls who look down and try to hide their face, this poem is for you and the memories you can’t erase.
Some of you have scars and that’s okay. Signs of a battle that you lost one day.
This is for the ones who cry in the shower and wonder what is wrong with them on the dot and on the hour.
This is for the ones who long for their crush, but can’t find the courage. We will never ever trust.
This is for the girls who always say they’re fine.
We are never fine, but be damn sure we’ll say it every time.
