au GMS absolutely SUCKS at weaving. not outer weaving but inner weaving. even though the silkspun sibs dont have organs, their nervous systems are TOTALLY FUCKED

phantom, even before their banishment, had chronic pain through their entire body because of GMS carelessly weaving because she saw them as a "prototype for weaving a proper child". they had to use their own pin to get around and couldnt do anything without it. due to said constant pain, their silk threads also started unravelling on themself about 200 years after said banishment

lace, however, doesnt have any pain. GMS didnt want her "real child" to be in constant pain, so she weaved her nerves to be bundled and pressed into random places across her body so her nerves cause her less pain than her sibling. GMS also feared for her child to have "weak points", so she propped most of the nerve endings into the ends of laces limbs [hands and tarsi] and gave her significantly thicker skin so she can, eventually, balance the bundles out as she grows older
