hello again! do you have any tips on finding the combining form of an adjective when only the non-combining form is given in a dictionary? i'm going through the lessons on vli and for example they say that nesh- is the combining form of nesh-kur and pi' is the combining form of pi, but how would i apply this pattern to other adjectives?
Hello!
Tha combining form of an adjective is almost always the base root word, for this reason often the dictionary will only give the non-combining form. The suffix to most non-combining regular adjectives is usually -ik, so that that part off and you should be left with the root. The dictionary will also usually tell you if you need to use - or ' with the combining form.
I hope this helps! The VLI has a lesson on adjectives that is useful for this so I recommend checking that out as well 😊 https://web.archive.org/web/20180328054642/http://www.vli-online.org/lesson12.htm
