character in general: I love Severus to begin with and this version doesn’t disappoint.how they play them: it seems legit and close enough to canon without it being too weird.the mun: Lovely and easy to talk to. I like it when people are easy to talk to!

Caught in the Dark

It was evening time at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and it was Hermione Granger's third year.  She had had a lot of homework to do, and as hard as she tried to study in the common room, it had been far too distracting, since she had thought she was alone, people soon began pouring in, which made sense as it was the common room, but it was still frustrating, so instead, she had decided to head to her go to area of the castle, the library.

She had been sitting at a table studying for what seemed like a couple hours, and while she understood everything, she still had a ton of work, so that when she finished, Madame Prince had to kick her out. She left in a huff, noticing that the sun was going down. She could get back to the common room, but she knew that some of the teachers might not be very understanding, as she walked the halls, darkness slowly falling.

"Shoot!" She said, under her breath, knocking over a nearby vase in her haste. She backtracked, pointing her wand and taking the proper stance, as she shouted, "Reparo!" and although the vase was now fixed, someone was sure to have heard the object breaking, along with the shouting of her incantation, and this was more time that she was using when she could have been heading back to her common room.

She took a deep breath, it seemed like it was getting dark a lot more quickly to her than it had been a few moments ago. She needed to hurry, for obvious reasons, but also so that she could do the million things that she still had on her plate.

Harry folded his arms and stared down his head of house. He didn’t like the man. He reminded him of all the bullies he’d known back in Surrey and, of course, it didn’t help that the man seemed to dislike him for no good reason. “I didn’t steal anything from your stores, I really didn’t. What use would I have for Polyjuice Potion anyway? I’m sure you don’t think I could brew something like that with my, what did you call it last week, my limited talents in the art of potion-making.” Although Harry suspected mouthing off would make things worse for him, he couldn’t seem to stop his rambling. Besides, he was innocent! At least this time. 

It was true that last year he’d stolen Infusion of Wormwood to attempt a Draught of Death potion that would allow him to sneak to Hogsmeade in the middle of the night. The potion had been a miserable failure in the end. Surely that didn’t mean he was the only student stealing supplies for their potions. Snape just had it in for him. “Are you going to throw me off the team without any proof?” He asked, nervous he might lose Quidditch, the only thing he actually worked hard at in this sorry excuse for a school.

It was the first full moon since Remus’ return to Hogwarts in the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. After the war, McGonagall took over the position of headmaster and reached out to him with an offer--return to his position for a five year guaranteed contract. Part of that legal agreement required him to work with Severus to make the Wolfsbane potion each month. The first time he missed a potion, he would be placed on probation. After three strikes, he would be out for good. He had no problem with the agreement itself but working with Severus was always an uncertain prospect, especially since he would again be teaching in the position that the man most wanted. 

After working with the Order, Remus grew to trust Severus but he doubted there would ever be affection between them. Sadly, he thought, since he could use a friend. He walked through the dungeons to the man’s office with a heavy feeling on his chest. He knocked on the door and let himself in. “Severus, good evening,” he said. “I appreciate your help, as always.”

Theodore had been sitting in the Fourth-floor corridor, sitting up against the window sill and reading quietly. He’d been sitting as still as a statue, glancing down at the tiny scrawling text on the parchment with utmost concentration. 

He looked up at his Professor when he heard him speak, his thumb resting lightly on the page. He then looked down and realised that he had blood on his shirt, the red staining the pristine white, showing up in contrast against his green and silver tie.

“Must be mine,” he commented, sniffing slightly, “Someone slipped me some of that Nosebleed Nougat as a joke.” It was a lie. In actuality, a Hufflepuff a year above him had called him a faggot, something he hadn’t taken to lightly. Theodore hadn’t even bothered raising his wand and punched him right in the nose.

He knew Professor Snape would see through it, but the sixth year remained cagey for now. 

“If I tell you the truth, how much trouble will I get into?” he asked after a while,  looking down at his knuckles, which were slightly red.
