For the character ask thing... Anora?
How I feel about this character
Anora is a fascinating look at a female character whose power is entirely political, working in a world where martial strength is prized. She’s not from a noble family (both of her parents were born commoners) and while Gwaren is a teyrnir it’s in the far south of Ferelden, geographically isolated from almost everywhere else. Despite that, she has a mind sharp enough to hold her position in court and is very determined. As a character, I love her nuance and her agency. As a person, I think she’s a little too fond of power and a little too ready to step on others if it lets her keep her place in the pecking order.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
I’m really bad at this question, I very rarely ship people romantically with each other. Anora and Cailan are a beautiful train wreck together, their shared history makes everything so much more complicated, and the hints you get about their relationship in-game gives a lot of scope to explore.
My non-romantic OTP for this character
I’m not entirely sure Anora has many friends. She has enemies, and she has allies, and she has people she can use. She feels like a lonely person. But I like to think that maybe she takes Habren Bryland under her wing while she’s queen and mentors her.
My unpopular opinion about this character
I don’t know how unpopular this is but I really don’t like the idea of making Alistair co-rule with her. He is someone who is desperate to reach out, who has been dictated to his entire life, and and she is someone who is very used to using whatever means she needs to to get what she wants, and that is not a healthy mix on either side.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
It would have been fun to see what happens to her after Origins if Alistair is made king alone or with Cousland. She’d make a great ambassador to the Free Marches, the question would be how intent she is on getting the throne back.
