Corvo isn’t allowed to mourn even for a second before something catches his eye.
And a something it definitely is indeed. It’s a vaguely humanoid shape, sure, but it looks like something that had crawled out of the Void’s ugly maw, gangling and ink-slick and horror-faced, though Corvo has certainly never seen the Void produce anything like that. The possession, the rat swarms, the windblasts– nothing is anything like that.
He shoves the Heart back into his coat, and reflexively reaches for his sword– and cursing upon remembering it is nowhere on his person.
That’s fine, he thinks, cracking his neck. He spreads his legs apart, raising his fists like he’s seventeen and in a bar fight again. He’s not sure the kind of damage he can do to this think with his bare hands, but it’s better than nothing, and Void knows he’s more than capable of flinging someone into the howling abyss unarmed.
Deep brown eyes don’t waver from his target. He’s patiently waiting for that thing to make the next move.
Morgan curses internally. They’d waited too long to choose, and now the man’s seen their Typhon form. To Morgan’s mild surprise, the other’s panic seems to immediately subside rather than flare up at this vision of comic horror, settling into a cold hostility; an aura so powerful that Morgan can almost feel their Typhon tendrils recoil with animal instinct.
They drop the rat, which scurries hastily away from them, and wonder if the man was as embarrassed to be caught in a moment of weakness as Morgan is to be caught in their alien body. Morgan makes their decision, deciding on a dime which form might put the man most at ease. They almost choose their female one, but at the last moment change their mind and make the face more angular, sprouting a stubbly beard and thick black hair. They smooth the front of their uniform, which is somewhat unnecessary, since it’s not made of the sort of material that wrinkles.
“Woah, there. Easy,” Morgan laughs, and flashes what is no doubt a dazzling smile. “Didn’t mean to scare you. Ah, I’m Morgan Yu. You’ve probably heard of me - TranStar and all that. You are -?”
