Remembering today how the vuvuzuela phenomenon almost made the World Cup 2010 watchable for me, adding a bit of apocalyptic frisson to otherwise mundane gameplay footage. Vuvuzuela > The Dream of Jacob.

The vuvuzuela really gets a bad rap. I know people only see it as the annoying drone from soccer games, but it has uses outside of that. There are even pitched vuvuzuelas that are used in call and response shouts almost like a bell ensemble.
