thank you!! i never really expected to finish this wip just bc i wrote all 10k of it in like. two days when i was sick and then never touched it again but! i still like it a lot :’)

“You don’t look at all what I thought a witch would look like,” Matija says as he draws his knees to his chest, arms wrapped around his legs and chin resting on his knees. The witch lets out a soft laugh.

“Oh, and what did you assume I would have looked like?” Isabella asks, half innocently as she strides across the room. He watches her, closely. Since the day she arrived at his little village, he was fascinated by her. She was tall, she was pretty but she was old but she was so nice to everyone. And most of all, she was nice to him.

Matija thinks for a moment and furrows his brows. To be quite honest, he doesn’t know. Maybe it’s the same for her with him?

“I dunno,” the eleven year old says with a little shrug. “I was always told witches eat bad children, not help them.” The woman lets out a laugh that rings through the empty house. “But I guess not.”

“No, we definitely don’t do that! Some of us have our own children,” She hands him a small cup, and Matija frowns. “Now, take this. It’ll help you start feeling better.”

“D’you have any children?”

“What a question to ask someone,” The witch exclaims, feigning offense.

“Well, do you?” Matija impatiently prompts.

“I don’t. Now, take your medicine and get to sleep, little star child,” Isabella says as she gently runs her hand through his hair. He doesn’t want to, but because she’s so nice to him and doesn’t want her to waste her time, he does so. The taste makes him gag, and hurts his already upset stomach. “I’ll see you in the morning.”

“Promise?”

“Promise.”

ONE /  name / alias: I generally go by as Veronica, my real name, or Asch, my alias. I’ll answer to anything, though--people tend to mix up V names (ie. Victoria/Vanessa/Veronica--I’ve met a number of Veronicas who’ve had the same struggle) and it’s made me truly indifferent to what I’m called lol

TWO  /  birthday: January 25th

THREE  /  zodiac sign: Aquarius sun, Taurus moon, Aries rising 😘

FOUR / height: 5′4.5″

FIVE / hobbies: Writing, for sure, although at this point that’s also partially an ideal career and an obsession. But also reading, video games, and eating cooking!

SIX / favorite colors: Purples, teals/cyans/green-blues, and grays.

SEVEN / favourite books: Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov is my all-time favorite, and Nabokov’s The Defense is also one of my dear favorites, as are the First Law Trilogy & The Heroes by Joe Abercrombie. The Hot Zone by Richard Preston, Level 4: Virus Hunters of the CDC by Joseph B McCormick and Susan Fischer-Hoch, and pretty much any other epidemiological book I’ve ever touched are also faves that I can never get enough of. 

EIGHT /  last song listened to: Funny Little Creatures by Nothing More

NINE / last film watched: I honestly don’t watch many movies, but the last one I watched beginning to end was Night School lmao

TEN / inspiration for muse: Everything. Absolutely everything. Nature / weather / mythology / music / other characters / real people / etc., I’m constantly refilling my well of inspiration.

ELEVEN / dream job: Full time author who can afford her mortgage? Yes. But I’m also very, very enthusiastic about the idea of working in the field of biodefense/biosecurity. 

TWELVE / meaning behind your URL: Asch is my pen-name, and I’ve always been--admittedly arbitrarily--drawn to including ink in my usernames, so I settled with aschenink sort of as a play on asch/ash. In hindsight I wish I’d just gone basic with aschwrites or something, but I’m way too deep into this to bother changing my url now, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

thank u!! i had an okay day i achieved nothing but it’s okay lol. i’m mad because my little brother is already on school holidays but I still have another week of school but IT’S OKAY because next sunday i’m leaving to travel to amsterdam by myself and stay with some family friends there!! i’m going to be able to go out and explore the city all by myself while they’re at work i can’t wait. i’ve never done something like this before and i’m so excited :)

23. Single or multi POV, and why?

You know, I always start stories with the intention to remain in single POV, but I always end up doing multi. It’s much easier for me that way. Partially so that I can show different perspectives, and because sometimes the characters split up, and I like to be able to keep up with both. 

40. Original Fiction or Fanfiction, and why?

Ummmmm. Both?

Like are we talking reading or writing? Writing wise I’ve enjoyed original fiction a lot more lately. Reading wise I can do either! 

51. Describe the aesthetic of your story _______ in 5 sentences or words.

Doing the Martyr Queen ;)

pirate ships and open seas. a red sword consumed by dark shadow. the clash and clang of weapon against weapon and shield. the feeling of returning home after a long absence, and not finding things the same. the feeling of people at your side, people who you would fight and die for.
