My mail was full of great stuff today!! In addition to my photo of Gus, I got a name rubbing from the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, thanks to the great folks at the VVMF.
Major James Blair White was our Ed’s little brother, and he went missing over Laos in November of 1969. Wreckage of his F-105 Thunderchief was found but no body was ever recovered. Jim is one of hundreds of American soldiers who disappeared in Laos during the Vietnam War, and he’s been listed as missing in action for almost 48 years. Because Laos was not part of the Paris Peace Accords at the end of the war, no direct negotiations for possible prisoners-of-war were made with the U.S.
Jim would be, or is, 75 years old this year, wherever he is. Reading the comments on his page at the VVMF, it’s obvious that Jimmy is still missed and loved by the people who knew him. He’s a hero who gave his life for his country, just like Ed, who would without a doubt be proud of his little brother.
