Check out Dream Circle's reinterpretation of Vyie's "Darrrk Knight"
MMMMMMMMMMM!
Since I mentioned it earlier, the Atlanta, GA-based (and self-descrIbed death-pop) trio VYIE recently collaborated with Brooklyn-based electronica outfit, Dream Circle for a remix album. Dream Circle’s reinterpretation of VIYE’s “Darrk Knight” is dizzying and trippy while retaining the anxious tension between a stark, icy minimalism and a densely layered sound.
They'll be releasing a followup to Nightingale over the summer, but you can consider this remix as a teaser to the new EP.
The Atlatna, GA-based (and self-described death-pop) trio VYIE recently collaborated with Brooklyn-based electronica outfit, Dream Circle for a remix album. Dream Circle's reinterpretation of VIYE's "Darrrk Knight" is dizzying and trippy while retaining the anxious tension between a stark, icy minimalism and a densely layered sound. Additionally, the remix album includes VYIE's cover of Dream Circle's "Black Magic." VYIE's cover is stark, icy and posses an underlying anxious, unease.
In the meantime, VYIE is in the studio working on the follow-up to Nightingale and it's slated for a summer release. Consider this a bit of a teaser, eh?
VYIE's debut effort Nightingale saw it's official release from Post Echo Records yesterday and to celebrate the occasion, the band released the second single from the EP, "Johnny." I think both singles are representative of the band's sound -- it manages to possess a tension between dense, lush arrangements and an icy, stark minimalism. I also love the interplay of the harmonies between Jessi Monroe and Janey Criss.
Certainly, this track will bear some comparisons to Zambri's House of Bassa -- the melodies and hooks are infectious are just as infectious.
Vyie's going to be at the Burro Bar in Jacksonville, FL tonight, 9pm!
