I never understood why coyotes are not as popular in media, I mean,, they kinda fit a lot of popular tropes and would be wonderful to explore certain things that isn't just villainizing

Yes, coyotes are known tricksters, they're seen as thieves with a sharp tongue, left in the desert lands where the general west tends to oddly despise, but they're not bad

Coyotes are smart and loyal, mate for life, protect their packs. They are tricksters but a lot like the beloved fox, they have to be to survive. An alternate name for coyotes are Song Dogs, a group of coyotes can be called a Band. They're musical !! So many music related aus to ideas n whatnot but never show the music of a coyote, of the Song Dog

Stories also have that coyotes are the reason why our skies and galaxy looks the way they do, there are stories of coyotes who stole fire from gods and brought fire to people to keep warm. There are stories where coyotes guide people safely, so on

Coyotes can also mean the symbolism of life and death, coyotes are scavengers too, also like death, they're deeply despised by folks in general spaces, despite only just doing what they need to - to survive

They're incredibly adaptable, able to adapt to anywhere, the northern snows to the southern deserts, the plains, the suburbs, they learn and adapt. They're so adaptable there's an entire Wild Kratts episode about it haha

They're not a wolf, not quite a dog, but their own unique and beautiful and wonderful and wild thing

Idk, I would love to see more coyotes in media, I always get a little sad about it and when we do they're villainized and hated. I'm tired of seeing that. I want to see more positive coyote stuff and more good coyote content
