An angry stare met her amused one, “You really think you could get away with that?” With one hand on her hip, she smirked down at the small elezen, the other grasping at his wrist, preventing him from running off.
“Got some nerve though, going after my gil. Especially from some third-rate pickpocket, you’re either new to the city, a godsdamned idiot who doesn’t know the code, or cocky enough to think you wouldn’t get caught.”
The only response she got from her observations was silence.
“All three then? I’m sure the Yellow Jackets will love to hear all about it, and you’ll have plenty of time to get to know ‘em and get friendly.”
As she leaned down to rub in the fact that this little blond scrap wasn’t going to be doing any more thievery any time soon, she heard it.
The sound of an empty belly, and if anything, this seemed to make the elezen even more defiant, as he glared ever fiercer. Styrbryda actually paused and took in how threadbare his clothes where, and how even for a young elezen how small and thin he was. She reassessed the situation, with this new information; this kid wasn’t necessarily how she had judged him before, but he was desperate it seemed. And that could drive grown men to stupid decisions, let alone a bitty thing like this kid.
Mind made up, she changed her planned course. Yellow Jackets might not be able to help this kid. But the Dutiful Sisters? Perhaps they could make something of him.
