          the night goes on as wyatt arrives at the party. a few beers are shared with rio as they chat, a few texts are swapped with leo to make sure his daughter was okay — not that there was any doubt in his mind that she wouldn’t be well cared by his friend — until he spots a familiar face in the crowd. the costume is what catches his eyes first and before he can help it, he’s excusing himself to rio and making his way towards the other. “nice costume.” wyatt starts, loud enough so that gunner would hear him over the music. his eyes slowly rake up and down the other’s outfit once they’re face to face, a smirk now present on his lips.

          “We held hands and we locked eyes for a really long time and it just fuckin’ felt like I was in a movie, Gun, it was everything in slow motion. Like, that romantic type of shit doesn’t happen to me, it’s just not normal. But it happened and it was all with this guy that I,” Cyrus is forced to cut his very long ramble in order to hydrate his vocal chords, taking the straw of his drink between his lips and sipping on it. “With this guy that I’ve had a crush on since, uh, since I was probably like thirteen and—” He cuts himself again but this time is to make sure that his friend is in fact listening to him, tossing him a glare as he nudges his friend’s shoulder. “Are you even listenin’ to me, Gunner? Because it feels like you’re not, like, half of the time. And this is important stuff. I need to share this with an actual human person or I’ll explode.”

the storm had calmed down but the electricity had been down for hours now with no hopes of it coming back any time soon. zeke had already ventured outside to drop his daughter off at someone’s house and called his, uh, boyfriend? lover? he still wasn’t sure what exactly to call gunner but he knew that he cared about the male, letting his worries show when he asked if he could stop by at his place. he just needed to see him. the door opens and zeke’s giving the other a small lopsided grin, leaning forward to press his lips against his, a hand rested onto gunner’s cheek. “hope it’s okay i stopped by.” voice wavers with a bit of uncertainty as he pulls back slightly. “just needed to make sure you were all good.”
