Day 1: Master Fard Muhammad
The Nation Of Islam was established in North America in the year 1930 by Master Fard Muhammad who made Himself known on July 4th of that year. He specifically chose to reveal Himself on America's Independence Day Celebration. He came alone, to seek that which was lost and to declare the independence of the Black People of America. He announced that His mission was to resurrect the Original Black Man and Woman of North America who were captured, exploited, dehumanized, and tortured to serve as slaves to the white race. Master Fard Muhammad came among us and He taught us Actual Facts. He came to clean the Black Nation up into the Word and Way of Almighty God and to restore the Black Nation back to their original glory. He came to teach the downtrodden Black people of America the knowledge of God, the knowledge of themselves, and the science of everything, as well as to put them on the road to self independence with a superior culture and civilization.
Master Fard Muhammad was born February 26, 1877, in the Holy City of Mecca, Arabia. His Father was Black and His Mother was white. Since he had a white Mother, He looked like a white man. He "came in sinful flesh to condemn sin in the flesh.”(Romans 8:3) If He was a dark-skinned man, He would not have come without observation. The enemy always knew that One would come to free us, so they were always looking for someone who would come out of the East. He was born with the predetermined idea to destroy the wicked and deliver the righteous from a world of sin. With His Father's help, He spent the first 42 years of His life studying for His mission. He searched and traveled to the Isles of the Pacific, Central and South America, Africa, and all of Asia for the Lost-Found Original Nation. He had no problem communicating to the many people He encountered because He speaks 16 languages and writes 10 of them perfectly! He first arrived in America in 1910 traveling in and out of America for twenty years, to study its government, its education, its economic institutions and its people.
After making Himself known, He came to the poorest community in Detroit called "Black Bottom." He went door-to-door selling silks. After being invited inside, He captivated His prospects with stories of Black history. He introduced Himself as W.D. Fard and would ask His host to gather some friends so He could come back and share more with them. Once the living room got too small, He asked them to put together some money so they could rent out a bigger place to hold more people. That is how Temple No. 1 started, now known as Muhammad's Mosque #1 in Detroit, Michigan. Within one year, He had approximately 25,000 followers who knew Him as Prophet W.D. Fard.
Master Fard Muhammad was only among us three years, and four or five months. In September 1931, He was teaching when He met a man named Elijah Poole in Detroit. He chose Elijah to be His Divine Representative to continue the difficult task of bringing Truth and Light to the Black Man and Woman in North America. Before leaving Detroit, the authorities arrested Him for teaching us the knowledge of ourselves. He submitted, though He did not have to. When Master Fard Muhammad went to jail, He sent for Elijah Muhammad. When Elijah saw Him behind bars, He looked at Elijah and said, “This is the price that you are going to have to pay if you want to free your people. The price is jail. The price is persecution. The price is being evil spoken of. And, sometimes the price is death itself. Unless you are willing to pay the price, do not accept the assignment." Then He said to Elijah, “If you don't accept the assignment, somebody else will. So why don't you go ahead and get the big name.” They ordered Master Fard Muhammad out of Detroit and He left. A little while later, they arrested Elijah Muhammad.
