So uhhhhhhm........was thinkin bout 'die dal' yesterday, bout the different atmosphere that you can only find there...... So I decided to do a lil research on how Heidedal came about......... ......what I found was a story about a place called Waaihoek and a place called Kaffirfontein. Waaihoek had become the most important non-white residential area in Bloemfontein and the white residents felt threatened by the advancement of people in Waaihoek which was a predominantly coloured area......the government demolished the area and relocated the coloured people to Heatherdale (Heidedal) and black people were to reside in Batho. Batho location went on to be the first black location to be proclaimed in 1924. Heidedal was also to be proclaimed later on in 1959. Tenacious, never say die attitude. Will to survive. I have always admired this aspect about my coloured family. Ask any black guy why he won't fight with a coloured dude and you'll get the same answer "they don't stop and they are a people who stick up for one another " I love this. I loved this so much that I self appointed myself as an adopted citizen of Heidedal. I call it Puero Rico. Imma get married there someday. 😁 So I haven't slept......been working on this since las nyt. Finished jus now. I dedicate this sweater to Die Dal. With Love always.
