Waddington Custot Galleries presents Animal, Vegetable, Mineral, an exhibition curated by Dr Jo Melvin, focusing on the early career of the renowned late British sculptor, Barry Flanagan.
The exhibition marks the 50th anniversary of Flanagan's first solo show, held at Rowan Gallery, London, in 1966; Animal, Vegetable, Mineral was the title curator Gene Baro gave to his review of that show. The exhibition explores and reveals the variety of mediums Flanagan utilised in this work, including sand, plaster, cloth, metal, stone and bronze.

The exhibition features a series of new film paintings, all created earlier this year, the pieces were derived and inspired by movies dating back to 1910 - from horror movies such as ‘Night of the Living Dead’ and ‘Nosferatu’ to Keystone era comedies such as ‘A Hash House Fraud’.
James Coleman at Marian Goodman Gallery

Time based artist, James Coleman, studied at the National College of Art & Design, University College Dublin, École des Beaux Arts and Accademia di Belle Arti. In 1973, he represented Ireland at the Paris Biennial and has participated in 4 editions of Doctumenta.
This will be his first major exhibition since his 2012 retrospective at Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia. Marian Goodman Gallery will present the artist’s early works alongside two new film installations that Coleman has been working on for the last five years.
