The pathway that leads from the entrance of Asclepius’s Herbs to her block isn’t an overly long one, but the tree cover was enough to cause most to not enter. Each branch riddled with leaves and jolting out many directions that often— Daphne would find herself having to duck around or push them out of her way. But she continued to take it anyway, deeming it a shortcut, and figured her abilities were plenty of protection. Though with a city now shrouded in darkness, not just from the lack of moonlight, the water genasi should have known better than mosey alone. At least not without some kind of deterrent, becoming more than aware of this sense of decay all around the bayside. Feet gently carried her down with familiarity, backpack full of notebooks and research, one hand busy with a lunch pale she had packed that morning. It all seemed absolutely normal until she heard sticks crunch in the brush just inches from where she stood and a sense of gloom latched on. “Move along,” a stern tone that housed a lot of strength given Daphne had never needed to defend herself in such a way, though she was more than prepared to put up a fight.
