Got to see Mount Taranaki in glorious splendor yesterday as I flew to Wellington. Spent a lot of my teenage years tramping (hiking) some of the trails on this mountain, including some overnight stays in either tents or huts. Amazing memories of fun tramps we had done. I remember when I was 11, our class at Manukorihi Intermediate (middle) School was the first class in Taranaki to go overnight camping on the mountain. First night our campsite got flooded and we were taken back home. Next day we met at the school and got everything dried and repacked. Headed back up again the next day and had an awesome time at a new campsite. We then tramped our the next day. It was an incredible time.
