I’ve noticed that working in the service industry as long as I have has significantly affected my ability to call out people on their bullshit. When you’re so used to having to be nice to people regardless of how they treat you because, it carries over to real life. I can’t believe it took me this long to realize that

I love working Saturdays because I usually never make less than $100 for no more than 6 hours of work. However, it’s a give and take because I’m so much more likely to get shitty customers.

Tonight I had one lady open up a tab with me. When you open up at tab, the bartenders hold onto the credit card and we give it back when when you’re ready to close out. Around 1:00, this lady goes up to the bartender to close out and they can’t find the card or the tab under the name she gave us. So for fifteen minutes she’s berating us, and blaming me because I’m the one who took her card in the first place and accusing me of taking her card. I know for a fact that I gave it to the bartender so we’re looking all around the bar and in trash cans for this tiny piece of plastic. She gets even angrier and finally the head bartender says “Look we don’t have a card for X” and I say “No. The tab is under Y. Check for that name.” He looks and sure enough we find the card. Lady signed her card with her boyfriend’s last name even though it was different from her legal name. Despite it being her mistake, she still blames us and doesn’t tip me

Tldr: A woman accuses us of losing her credit card, but didn’t give us the right name

Lmao so today at work this old lady said I was taking too long with her drink. So she came in the back and grabbed it out of my hand. Looool I would've felt hurt bc she was basically saying I suck at my job. But I felt sorry for her. To be such a mean person must be a heavy burden to carry. I wish her compassion and the strength to be a Better person.
