Fan: If you could switch characters with another character on the show, who would you switch with?
Norman Reedus: I don't want to be Andy. I don't want to be Rick. It's too much work. I'm just not that driven. Um, Gosh, I don't know. Maybe, Chandler?
Andrew Lincoln: [Nodding in response to crowd calling. With finality] Carol.
So, I had someone bail on me for Walker Stalker Con. Now I'm just looking for any advice and whatnot anyone has or even just people to hang out with! This definitely isn't my first con, but I haven't been to this particular con before.
Which hotel is everyone staying at? Suggestions? Anyone going to the con from the city?
I'm taking a bus into NYC from central PA, so I'm definitely hoping someone can give me some advice as to what is the quickest and best way to get to the Meadowlands Expo from Penn Station.
This is what it was like to wait 2 hours for "The Reedus Experience."
The link takes you to a timeline of my live-tweeting of my Walker Stalker experience of standing in a "Reedus Line" - a great twisting beast that swallows you whole for a good chunk of your life.
What I didn't tweet was a description of my interaction with him.
The great thing about a Reedus Line is that they don't even bother to attempt to prevent anyone from taking photos. Of course, this is always the prerogative of the star, so I absolutely respect that. But I wouldn't have a picture at all without that.
So blah, blah, Ginger. I'll skip to the point of interaction.
The thing to remember in all of this is that, no I wasn't shaking, no I didn't cry, no I didn't get tongue-tied, BUT...
I didn't actually make eye contact with the guy. AND HE WASN'T EVEN WEARING THE RAYBANS THAT DAY!!! Gah! Well, we all respond in different ways, I guess.
When I got to Reedus I had 4 things in my possession:
I caved and bought a copy of his photography book. What can I say? I'm a book nerd. I figured that it made the most sense for me to have something signed that represented me as well as representing him.
One cute little testicle.
On adorable little ovary.
A picture to be signed for meganpetaf.
As I stepped up I extended my hand for a handshake. I figured that the guy was always having to have people touch him and it must get a little old. I wasn't going to ask for a hug since he'd be asked so often.
I ended up sort-of-shaking his hand (got a close-up view of the star tattoo on his hand - oddly endearing), but it was instantly clear that this was something that he didn't really expect, and that...just made it that much more likely that I wouldn't actually look in his eyes because...embarrassed!
So, I just as awkwardly pulled out the ovary and the testicle and said something like, "I got these for you. I know someone gave you a uterus [a plushie] so I thought you needed these." I think he said something about them being great. I'm not completely certain.
Norman then reached over the table and pulled me into a hug. It completely surprised me! I wasn't quite ready for it, and I think my astonishment just added to my obvious idiocy.
Next, I put up the picture I had selected for meganpetaf, and told him about my good friend. (I won't tell that little vignette because it's really hers to tell if she wants to.)
I then slipped the book up for him to sign. I really wish I had been looking at him then, because I would have liked to see how he responded to being asked to sign his art. But, alas...
He flipped open the cover, and then flipped it back and asked if I wanted it signed inside or on the cover. I said whatever he'd like, and he chose to sign the cover.
After he'd done so I thanked him (probably profusely - again with the ridiculousness), and he reached over the table and pulled me into a second hug! I was like...wut??
I was so mortified by my foolishness that I think I may have been a bit rude...or at least seemed scared or something because I pretty much just moved quickly away after the hug. Over my shoulder I heard him say "Thanks again for the..." and then my ears just shut down I guess.
tl;dr:
I turned into a complete dork when facing a guy that I am not that huge a fangirl for.
I gave him a present of reproductive organs.
I got hugged twice...and was completely surprised because he reached over and grabbed me though I didn't even ask.
I'm glad he meets so many thousands of people, because at least I will not form a lasting impression with my awkward.
Here are my pictures of Norman Reedus and I from WSC Atlanta.
I had such a great time meeting the cast of the walking dead. I travelled from Scotland and it was so worth it. He called me sweetheart, angel and said I was good looking!! I was like nearly crying. He was amazing,so lovely and kind and he even gave me a t-shirt (the green one in the photo op) and signed it for me!! It was amazing!! One of my favourite experiences ever. Meeting Norman Reedus has changed me,he was so lovely and it has made me so thankful for everything. To be honest everyone from twd that I met were all just sooo nice and grateful for everything too.
