A still from this animation. Walking DRP, Procreate Dreams
It's remarkable how much of our human existence depends on our access to reliable information. The industries of education, social media, and the news all serve to teach.
Many have their gripes with the social information landscape, but without it, where would a farmer learn how to prepare for an upcoming storm? Where would a couple go to learn about safe intimacy practices? How would a political candidate be held accountable, without some news source shedding light on their deeds? Where would a parent learn how to prevent bullying at their children's school?
The image above is a still from an animation I made in partnership with DRP radio, illustrating their process. They partner with radio stations in rural, developing regions around the world to help grow local information landscapes-listening to community issues, training journalists, broadcasting information to the region, and supporting local changemaking initiatives. You can see and read about some of their tangible impacts at https://www.developingradiopartners.org/
