Walking Walter
The Man is back to walking. And we always find at least one unusual item when we're exploring remote areas of northern Michigan. I think this is the discarded spawn of Chucky.
The Man and I had a big adventure ... At the sewer ponds. His idea. Something about it's a secret spot with a winding trail to an abandoned footbridge on the Ausable River. Yeah. That didn't happen. More like a winding trail right into the swamp. As the photos indicate, I was happy to go but not pleased that my pillow was lodged against the window in the Jeep. The sign for the treatment area is in disrepair, but the grasses and cattails are none the worse for the wear. The Man advised me that those dark brown pellets aren't raisins, and that I shouldn't consume them. He also became upset that I found a way to the inside of the sewer pond fencing, in violation of a no trespassing order. I reminded him that signs don't apply to me, striking a defiant pose.

A bit of walking near the Mason Tract today, and we found some crumbling foundations. It's not far from Durant's Castle, but I'm not convinced there's a connection. I'm just happy that spring has sprung on northern Michigan.
