send me a ✍ + a muse to see how i would play them.
Eleanor pressed the rewind button on the answering machine, allowing the recorded message to play back a second time. As her son’s short and sweet announcement filled the room, it didn’t take the redhead long to make up her mind. Millicent Carter had been many things, but a fan of her now former daughter-in-law most certainly hadn’t ever been one of them. Coupled with the fact that she and her ex-husband no longer had anything in common other than John, there really wasn’t any reason at all for her attend the funeral. After the disaster that was John Sr.’s – thanks to her son’s troubled girlfriend’s sloppy brother –, it was probably a blessing in disguise. One less awkward and drama filled Carter family gathering to pretend to care about.
With a small sigh as her only response to the now ended message, one swift click of the delete button was all it took to prove that actions truly did speak louder than words. Now it was time for a much needed drink.
Has your muse ever been in trouble with the police? What crime did they commit? Did they have to stay in jail?
Catherine is guilty of doing some rebellious things during her younger days, but she’s never been to jail for anything, though.
How would your muse respond to receiving a bouquet from an admirer? What kind of flowers would they prefer in the bouquet?
Catherine loves receiving flowers on special occasions, or just because. They definitely help to brighten up the apartment. Her favorite kinds are freesias and cherry blossoms, but she’ll usually accept almost any, because it’s the thought behind the gesture that truly counts.
When is a time your muse was heart-broken? Was it someone else’s fault or your muse’s? What did they do to get over it?
Catherine’s heart was broken when her two daughters became estranged due to the fact that Melanie slept with Kim’s husband. While none of it was her fault, there was enough blame to be shared. While she did her best to encourage a reconciliation between the two, it ultimately had to be their choice. They were the ones who had to put in the work, and them being willing to at least try was what helped her to get over things.
What is your muse’s favorite movie genre? What are their top five favorite movies? Do they prefer watching movies at home or in the theater?
Catherine is a sucker for romantic comedies, and she prefers watching them at home as opposed to in theaters, especially nowadays. It’s just more relaxing. Her top five favorite movies as of right now in no particular order are Book Club, The Proposal, The First Wives Club, It’s Complicated, and An Affair To Remember.
What type of cell phone does your muse have? What apps do they frequently use? Who do they text or call most often?
Catherine owns a Samsung Note. Her most frequently used apps are her bank account and Macy’s. She’s not really all that much of a texter, but she will text Karly from time to time. As for who she calls most, it’s definitely Joe and Kim.
What is your muse’s favorite animal? Do they have or do they want any pets?
Catherine’s favorite animal is a dog, because they’re loyal, unlike certain humans. Now that she’s finally decided to settle down, she has thought about owning a pet, but she hasn’t actually made the idea a reality just yet, though.
Does your muse have any physical or mental disabilities/illnesses? Do they take medication for it?
For the most part, Catherine is a pretty healthy woman. The only medication she takes on a daily basis are things like vitamins and such.
Does your muse prefer baths or showers? What’s their favorite body wash scent? What kind of shampoo/conditioner do they use?
Catherine prefers showers over baths. Her favorite body wash scent is Japanese Cherry Blossom, and she uses OGX Heavenly Hydration Cherry Blossom Shampoo.
What is your muse’s favorite genre of music? What are some of their favorite artists? How important is music to them?
Catherine’s favorite genre of music is pretty much anything from the 1960’s. She enjoys listening to groups like The Beatles and The Mamas and the Papas. Music is somewhat important to her. For instance, she’ll have some playing softly in the background, but if you try to have a conversation with her about the artist or whatever, she’s not going to be the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Is your muse superstitious? What superstitions do they have? Where did they pick them up from?
Catherine isn’t superstitious. She just lives her life the way she wants, and the rest be damned.
Who or what drains your muse the most? Who or what helps to revitalize that energy?
Having to deal with ignorant people is very draining for Catherine. No, but seriously. When she has to be on her feet for an extended amount of time on a daily basis, that can be a bit draining. She’s in pretty good shape, but she’s also not as young as she used to be, either. If Joe isn’t around to help revitalize her, she usually just either lays down to rest and relax for a little while or soaks in the comfort of a well deserved hot bath with nice smelling candles around for atmosphere.
“I used to see him from time to time when I would stop by the firehouse.” It was pretty easy for the two to run into each other, given the fact that the pair of buildings were literally right across the street from one another.
“We’d stop and talk every so often, and then one day I found out that he’d been asking around about me.” Joe had questioned Sully, and then Sully had talked to Kim. Soon enough, he’d asked her out to dinner, and not long after that, the first date had turned into a second one, followed by a third, and so on and so forth. “I’ll never forget what a gentlemen he was that first night he took me to Del Posto,” she recalled with a fond smile.
♥ What’s the absolute best experience you’ve had in RP?
This is such a tough question, because it’s so hard to choose just one. I guess I’ll go with the glory days of MySpace whenever Lauren and I were legit writing at least ten mother and daughter pairings together. Also, everything you and I have written together over the years. I’ve literally lost count of our relationship number, but yay Dynamos!
☯ Tell us all about your favorite muse you’ve ever written and why they meant so much to you.
I know this might sound like I’m saying this just because she’s kind of taken over this blog in the past few months, but that’s honestly not the case. I’ve been writing Scarlett Ewing off and on for legit fifteen years now. That’s an entire decade and a half, wow. First of all, the show that she originates from will forever hold a special place in my heart. I love it so much, and I recommend everyone watch it sometime. Second, I’ve just done so much behind the scenes work with her that it’s honestly not even funny. If you all only knew how far she’s come ever since her MySpace days.
I’ve watched her grow from an original character who should have been canon to actually having that particular dream come true with the reboot. She’s been through so many storylines with so many versions of so many characters that there’s enough history and headcanons to fill a book. Back to her show, there’s just so much material to draw from, and the cast is amazing. Like, don’t even get me started on the two who play her parents.
This is already turning into a mini novel, but I’ve written Scarlett on so many different websites and with so many different and interesting people that how could she not be up there in the top on my list of all time favorite muses?
❀ What is your favorite thing about your current fandom or RP community?
This is a multimuse, and the majority of the fandoms are legit super small. With that being said, I love that I’ve been able to meet some pretty awesome people in those tiny fandoms who like me are dedicated to keeping them alive, even if it’s only by a thread. I hope they never leave me, because then none of this would be anywhere near as much fun lol.
⚜ Have you ever met anyone from RP in real life?
So, there’s this girl named Lexi, and we started writing together like a bunch of years ago. One day she told me she was coming to my state to visit some family, but since she’d started watching the DALLAS reboot thanks to Brenda Strong, she was also going to visit Southfork before returning home. That place is like my second home, so we both braved the June heat and met up there one afternoon. It was super fun, and we need to do it again soon. And that’s the condensed version of how I met one of my most nearest and dearest friends in real life who became the Ann to my Sue Ellen.
"Ha, I'd like to see her try." Amusement was written all over Sadie's face at the mere mental image alone. While she'd only been late twice in her career thus far, it was made obvious each time that there was no such thing as special treatment simply because of who her father was. Something similar could also be said for Karly. "It's been so long that I don't think I would even remember what to do if I had one."
“You’re not dragging me into anything. I’m making my own decision to make this my business.” Catherine had never been one to sit idly by when someone she loved was in such obvious pain. This time was no exception. Just because Karly was now an adult, that didn’t mean she was no longer allowed to ask for help. It didn’t mean she had to carry such a heavy weight on her shoulders all alone.
“If you don’t want to talk about it, I won’t force you.” Support could still be given, even if she was in the dark about what the root of the problem was. There were other ways to lend a hand besides advice – things like a shoulder to lean on or a gentle reminder that there would always be at least one person in her corner, no matter how hopeless everything might feel right then.
Then again, just offering a loving hug and a forehead kiss didn’t seem like nearly enough. There was more she could should be doing. “Can I get you anything in the meantime? Maybe some chocolate chip cookies or a mug of hot chocolate with extra marshmallows?” Or even a blanket – anything to not have to feel so helpless when her granddaughter was hurting.
