Seoul. 나는 다음 주로 회사 생활을 접고, 내 20년지기 친구는 내일 작은 결혼식을 올린다. 대표로 축사를 해달라는데 도대체 무슨 말을 해야 할지 모르겠고, 회사를 그만두고 앞으로 어떻게 살아야 할지도 아직 모르겠다. 그저 우리 삶이 어떻게든 점점 더 나아졌다는 것, 앞으로도 확률상 그럴 거라는 말밖에 못할 것 같다. 그녀와 산책하던 길에 만난 새, 그림자, 물결, 그리고 벽. 앞으로 내가 마주칠 것들을 상징하는 듯했다. 그 어느 때보다 저 새가 가깝게 느껴졌다. 사실 너는 먹이를 바라보며 집중하고 있었을 것이다. 그래, 나도 너처럼, 어디로 날아가든 어디에 잠기든 살아남아보겠다. I will end my office life at this company by the end of next week, and my precious friend H, who has been close to me for more than 20 years, will get married tomorrow. She wants me to deliver a congratulatory speech on behalf of all her friends, but I don't know what to say, and I don't know how to live after quitting this company.
