This is getting old.
Either that, or Miles is getting too old for this. He turned 30 last year, an age by which the average person would be settling into a quiet, mundane routine. Spouse, kids, dog, a job that wouldn’t land you in the morgue, unable to be identified by even your teeth. The paper he’d once worked for just published a multi-issue travel guide to the Caribbean a couple weeks back -- an assignment that easily could have gone to Miles, had he still been on the payroll.
But no. He had to have a fucking conscience.
How Walker has kept up the chase for this long is beyond the reporter. According to his file, the guy’s of a similar age, give or take a year or two, and he’s lugging around god knows how many extra pounds. Doesn’t exactly sound like his lungs are up to par, either. But he’s always there, somehow, bashing down a nearby door or tearing the head clean off some unsuspecting idiot’s shoulders. Must be whatever drugs they pumped him full of in this shithole. One more thing to thank Murkoff for.
Miles is looking for any semblance of cover -- a bed or a locker or anything -- so he can catch his breath and get his bearings. Even if the Hulk can run forever, the reporter sure as hell can’t.
