The road to the SEVENTH GYM

It's getting close to lategame now, so you should really think about who you want to take with you to the E4. I'll tell you now that even those guys are no joke, so start preparing now!

Also, as for why Frillish and Alomomola are here, you won't get access to them until you get Surf, which is around this time. You will also have access to Axew and the legendary trio of this game with Surf, so if you're interested in that, I say go exploring!

Frillish: Powerful water-type, if a bit inconvenient. 9pt.  Alomomola: Quite the team player. 6pt. Axew: Requires quite a bit of investment, but well worth it. 10pt. Cubchoo: Let down by its typing. 7pt. Cryogonal: Easily shattered. 3pt. Shelmet: Starts off tanky, but evolves into a speedster. 8pt. Stunfisk: Surfboard. 1pt. Mienfoo: Unique and powerful, in spite of late evolution. 10pt.

The road to the SIXTH GYM

This is the last place I consider "convenient" by how the game is set up, mostly because Pokemon caught here will still evolve at or around level 40. As a result, I recommend players have at least 4 permanent party members at this point, and pick up the 5th one here. I say reserve a 6th slot for one of the later-game Pokemon, as they're pretty much all useful.

Deerling: Great physical-grass type. 6pt. Emolga: Not good enough to make the cut. 2pt.  Karrablast: Requires a bit of trading to evolve, but well worth the effort. 8pt.  Foongus: Has potential, but falls short. Better for competition. 2pt.  Joltik: Most powerful electric-type released in this generation. 10pt.  Ferroseed: Better relegated to battling friends than the E4. 7pt. Klink: Powerful but predictable. 7pt. Tynamo: A bitch to train. 6pt. Elgyem: Cookie cutter psychic-type. 3pt.  Litwick: Well worth the investment. 9pt.

Here's how I'm going to rate these Pokemon.

 They can earn 2 points each for usefulness, convenience, sustainability, originality, and reusability for a total of 10 points. Their exact score is inferred by their description as of right now, but I will be sure to leave more exact ratings on their page in the future if need be.

Usefulness- Is it worth training(2)? It can earn only 1pt here, meaning it's usable.

Convenience- When do you get it(1), and is it easy to train(1)?

Sustainability- How does it start out(1), or does it get better through evolution(1)?

Originality- Does its movepool make it unique(1)? How about unique from other Pokemon of the same type(1)?

Re-usability- Will it be good competitively(1)? Should you just keep it after E4(1)?
