Distant Worlds II Log 13 - 2/10/3305
This place, Gagarin Gate, was named after a man that changed humanity. The first man to ever orbit the Earth - the man to open the gates of heaven for the rest of us.
My parents told me that I could be a great man too, that I had a great mind. That I could create. I think about that as I sit in Gagarin’s shadow. I think about what could have been - the person I could be and the world I could change, if only I hadn’t slammed shut the doors that my parents had held open for me.
Instead, I blindly followed this path - tumbling through neutron stars, plunging down gravity wells. As if I expect to find myself out here. As if I’ll bump into some stellar phenomenon and suddenly realize “Oh. Here I am.”
No. I already know where I belong: next to my friends. I’ll stay nearby Gagarin Gate to wait for the Jackdaw. I have data to process in the meantime.
