Honestly though, as many morbid jokes about Drift's many dead friends as I make, realizing that pretty much every single one of his friends has died was one of the two cornerstones to me rewriting reexamining his character

That amount of personal loss and tragedy for a single person to go through would impact how they interact with the world so heavily, and I ended up leaning into that

(The fact that he was an Autobot for only two years was the other cornerstone)

Missit’s name is a portmanteau of “Miss It”, which is a reference to her being based on the idea of an “It Girl”, which plays into the “cast off Hollywood actresses from the horribly abusive golden years” vintage inspiration that influenced both of their designs, and I still think that’s probably the most clever name I’ve ever come up with

Drift, thinking back on Wing like "I respect him immensely and owe him a ton but I do still think he had a few screws loose"

Given we see him use no less than six different kinds of guns his miniseries, I always imagine Drift as having Very Strong Opinions on firearms and what’s the best make and manufacturer for each model, but he will never, never ever express these opinions to anyone. Just silently judges them on their weapon of choice. On occasion he takes advantage of knowing things like “they’re using an Itaxian mid-range pulse rifle, there’s a .02 second lag on the trigger,” and is able to counter an shot in battle with that timing memorized
