Wally's November 23, 2023 Fenton, Missouri
Ari finally introduced me to the Midwest equivalent of Bucee's, and that would be Wally's. For those of you who don't know, both are regional truck stop chains that sell all kinds of neat things you never knew you needed. I don't mean to commit blasphemy, but I honestly like Wally's better. They had more stuff that I'm interested in, like a mini cross stitch kit of a mushroom, mushroom chip clips, an ice tray that makes crystal-shaped ice, neat stickers, camping gear, and decor that was more my style than what they have at Bucee's. I ended up spending $50. Although, I have to admit, Bucee's has a wall of beef jerky, where Wally's did not, so that's one thing Bucee's is doing better.

Breakfast:
Pizza: 1 slice old times beef from wallys
Temperature: Cold
Thoughts: The dough at wallys is the Greek style pizza, so it’s very bready. Which isn’t always great cold. The onion really came through but I didn’t get a lot of beef flavor despite the slice having a lot of it. The sauce was good, but I didn’t get a sense of the cheese. The crust was bad. It lived up to its own name though because eating it was like eating a very crusty loaf of bread. It crunched like a loaf of French bread and crumbled apart. It wasn’t unpleasant, but it wasn’t what I wanted in a pizza crust.
Rating: 6.5/10
Lunch
Pizza: 1 slice corvinos cheese 1 slice green pepper and jalapeño from Fat Katz
Temperature: Cheese: microwaved Green pepper and jalapeño: air fryer
Thoughts: Yet again this wasn’t the worst microwaved pizza I’ve ever had. It wasn’t ideal, and I think I would still prefer it to be cold, but it was certainly edible. The cheese was melty, but the crust was also a little droopy. It wasn’t soggy, but it was a little like chewing rubber. Also the microwave heated it inconsistently. The tip of the slice was molten hot, while the crust was almost cold. It was noticeable as I progressed down the slice. And it wasn’t due to the speed with which I ate it either. The crust wasn’t ideal either. It was a little tough.
The green pepper and jalapeño slice was once again top notch. It had the most satisfying cheese pull that I have had from a slice that wasn’t fresh from a pizza oven. The sauce was good and the crust was again perfect.

Dinner:
Pizza: 1 slice corvinos cheese 1 slice green pepper and jalapeño from Fat Katz
Temperature: Air fryer
Thoughts: I take back what I said about the satisfying cheese pull from the last entry. This time I had an entire slice that was cheese pulls. And it was on the Corvino’s cheese slice. It was so good. Both slices were a bit bigger, so I had to cook them one at a time in the air fryer, and the Corvino’s slice was second which I think served it well. The dough was crispy and the sauce was tangy. The cheese was perfect. The only downside was the crust was a little bit overdone and a little to crunchy and tough for my liking. I used the garlic butter to liven it up a little bit, but that only made it tolerable. If it wasn’t for the crust this would have been my first perfect score I think.
The green pepper and jalapeño slice was good too, but unfortunately didn’t get evenly heated up in the air fryer. The first couple of bites were great, but as I got towards the center of the slice (before the edge that meets the crust) the cheese was a little rubbery and not fully cooked. The edge near the crust though was once again excellent. The perfect bites of sauce and cheese and pillowy dough were very enjoyable bites. Fat Katz flours their crust with give it a good texture and flavor when you eat the pizza bones that I very much enjoy.
