Ymir used to be the 9x WBA (World Boxing of Ancients) Super Heavyweight Champion, until a certain quilled fighter broke his beyond godlike streak. Ymir punched him too hard and he knocked himself out. Because of this, he had to wear a brace in his punching arm indefinitely. He decided to retire, and instead be an academy professor. His happy-go-lucky attitude, and his weird accent made him an instant hit to students, especially Rylai. He's currently mentoring her to be an assistant instructor.
