'Self Portrait' as painted in 1937 by Dutch speaking Belgian painter Walter Vaes (1882 - 1958). Vaes primarily painted landscapes, still lives, and flowers. As an etcher, he created landscapes and cityscapes, which referenced where he had been on his travels. Between 1900 and the 1930s, Vaes created approximately three hundred and fifty etchings. He created these for his own enjoyment and at his own expense, often printing them himself.
