The prestigious Wanamaker trophy was founded by Rodman Wanamaker who started PGA, Professional Golfers Association of America. And, he is the name behind the prestigious Wanamaker trophy. A trophy which is even two decades younger than US Open championship. It was first contested in 1916. Walter Hagen won the first grand prize but he lost the original trophy. The Wanamaker trophy was 28 inches tall, weighed 27 pounds and was made using sterling silver.
