Festival style
‘Tis the season! Festival season, that is.
With Coachella Weekend 1 newly wrapped up, we got a taste of which festival trends are going to be popular this year. Be the best dressed one by far with a few ideas to help you out.
1. The wild west… aka Fringe. Everyone from Gigi to Chiara had oodles of fringe (we saw this coming from SS Fashion Week 15).
2. See through everything: Sheer applique + mesh + crochet; minimalism at it’s finest?
3. Heavy metal necklaces: Ken Jen and others braved the heat with several pounds of metal around their necks. These gorgeous pieces might weigh you down, but a chunky hunk of metal will show that you are committed to being on trend at your music festival of choice. Beauty knows no pain.
4. The staple black felt hat: Say tootles to flower crowns. they. were. everywhere. literally.
5. All white outfits: this may seem a bit ridiculous since you generally run the risk of getting muddy if it rains. But weather be dammed! You want to look the coolest, right? If Alexa Chung and a gang of Brazilian models can do it so can we.
Have fun and stay hydrated, America.
For beauty hoarders and no makeup types alike.

The perils and morals of decisions and expectations in hair styling.
Haircuts. We all get em. But rarely do we find a hair stylist who knows exactly what we’re thinking. I recently went in to get some minor bangs; very minor, just a few short bits around my face. I brought in a picture and everything. I went for the Lob trend too. The Lob part turned out the perfect choppiness and length that I wanted. The bangs, however, are another story. I don’t even know what’s wrong with them. They’re the same length as the picture, but some how do not look as fly on me as they did on Alexa Chung. Shocker. My stylist said they’d look great as they grow out: is that code for sorry I effed that up? Let the stopwatch commence. Perhaps next time I’ll try “Seinna Miller bangs”…
Hair color. It’s an evil necessity when God/your parents gave you a flat bronde color. I recently brought a picture of Draco Malfoy to a color appointment. The dude has great platinum blonde—don’t even lie. While I was already quite blonde, it was turning too brassy with all this Australian sunlight. (I blame the lack of O-zone.) I was reminded that so rarely are we able to achieve exactly what we want in one appointment. This is why I’m so shocked/wondering how Kim Kardashian’s hair didn’t just fall out. I’ll be back in a few weeks after a thousand conditioning treatments to repair elasticity and strength. And again with the waiting game.
Moral of this terrible shallow story: good things come slowly, when we work hard for them. Also, you won’t look like Alexa Chung does with bangs.
But hey, I’m one step closer to platinum perfection.
