'Waking Up'

It was dark; pitch black like a deep pit of nothingness. And then with the opening of his eyes he was whipped back to reality. It was still dark. The last thing that Ianto remembered before he was out was being held in Jack's arms . . . and then . . . and then nothing. There was nothing at all. He was still in his head; what had exactly happened that day?

Behind his eyelids, light could be seen, forcing its way through to him. Beep . . . beep . . . beep. What was that? There was a high-pitched, sporadic sound pulsing around him. Muffled voices with words were forming to the sides of him. Ever so slowly, Ianto opened his eyes, letting the blinding light in.
