Ravanna had been CLEAR before she’d left to do her own business: DON’T BOTHER ANYONE. That seemed rather obvious to Katyae, who immediately rolled her eyes and nodded her agreement while her cousin scrutinized her sincerity. Finally though, Ravanna begrudgingly left and Katyae grinned quietly to herself. Ravanna had mentioned that a lot of people in her profession frequented this place, but Katyae would never have guessed some of these patrons were PIRATES. It was thrilling! Green hues swung around the room, empathetic senses stealthily navigating the STRANGE ENERGIES.

Katyae hummed thoughtfully as she leaned back against the bar. Without warning, she turned slightly to toss a sly grin towards the patron beside her.

Entire body momentarily froze, wide green hues blinking over towards the Captain in genuine surprise. There’s a pinprick of HURT and then, before she could stop it, a small chortle of laughter spilled past Katyae’s lips. Quickly, long fingers lifted to try and SMOTHER the sound but it was too late to try and hide her laughter. The corners of Katyae’s lips threatened to turn upwards into a wickedly amused grin – and for a quick second, a LIGHT from deep within her eyes FLASHED, eerily illuminating the features of Katyae’s face. It was gone just as quickly, Katyae’s grin softening to a gentler yet still thoroughly amused smile.

living ... yes , she was living & not just in THE LITERAL SENSE . she was living her life --- LIVING IT THE WAY SHE WANTED , where she answered to no one but herself . she had never realised it before , how LITTLE SHE SETTLED WITH , never truly wanting for anything . for a hundred & fifty years saélihn hadn’t truly been living ; SHE HAD ONLY BEEN SURVIVING .

but freedom had opened up her eyes & she’s NEVER BEEN HAPPIER . she had survived those long , dark years & now she finally living her life . no matter the BURDEN SHE CARRIED .

when saélihn escaped from her grandfather , she did expect to be hunted down like a wild animal . it hadn’t even crossed her mind & it had be truly foolish --- naive even , thinking he would just discard her like any other useless weapon of his . she should have known better , considering the fate that befell her father . he had no been able to let him go , it went without saying that he wouldn’t let her go either . she was his favourite weapon after all .

but that did not make it any less of an annoyance , to be hunted down by the king’s men . especially when she was forced to hide herself in a darkened alleyway that smelled week old refuse . the grimace was not entirely from being hunted down & thanks to her fae sense of smell , it was ten times worse . humans did not know how lucky they were . unfortunately the horrific stench masked the scent of everything else & saélihn did not catch the new scent until it was right behind her .

a dagger was in her hand in a flash & with the speed fae were known for , the princess had it angled at the strangers throat . it took only a moment later to realise the stranger was not one of the men that hunter her ; saélihn did not recognise her , not as one of the kings men or anyone she had seen the years with her grandfather . they were a stranger through & through , but that did not mean saélihn was letting her guard down .

❛ & i wouldn’t have it any other way … ❜ there’s a rather wistful sigh as she clasps her hands together , leaning slightly to the side as her body rises to match ever so . the creatures & spirits & cryptids & whatnots of the surrounding nature have come to enjoy hiding in plain view ( the town is already full of weirdos , the few “ normal ” ones simply not caring enough to note the oddities , so it isn’t all that hard ) , something which the gleeful finds simply delightful , ever the fan of the supernatural that she is . the more you pay attention , the weirder it gets —— that’s the way she likes it . however … features shift to deadpan , weight dropping solidly to one leg // she adds :
