          literally ,  he could .  there was nothing on this earth that could prevent him from doing so .  the only resentment could be YEARS of absolute silence .  years of wondering where he was ,  years yearning for her once again .  ( she always wondered if he looked ,  or if he forgot like the REST of overwatch did . )  the anger bubbles ,  a pot in her gut .  carnal feelings which paint so clearly on her snow-lidden features .  pale cheeks dusted with rouge ,  only blooming into a complete flush at the proposition of a kiss ,  a request ,  but her eyes almost narrowed with anger .  nine years .  their relationship was newer ,  yes ,  but from the words in his letters ,  she only wondered if it was possible to forget someone you were once so intimate with .

          she did think about hearing his voice ,  ( aged and all , ) say the sweet nothings he once wrote her ,  and her cheeks were splayed with a bright red once again .   ❛ w - well ,  i can say no . ❜    her tone felt stern ,  but the wall she leaned against only provided so much support for her  &&  her words .   ❛ i was gone ..  for over nine years ,  i`m ..  i`m sorry if i seem a little ..  resentful . ❜    however ,  she lead his hand to her cheek ,  gloves on gloves ,  the fabric only a thin barrier behind the warmth underneath .  she LEANED into the touch ,  heartbeat growing rapid .  ( they say seeing a loved one releases endorphins ,  it can only explain her body`s reaction . )   ❛ i lost a family  , ❜    her tone fell to a mumble .   ❛ i almost lost you too . ❜

          yet ,  she didn`t .  he was before her in the flesh .  scarred ,  aged ..  alive .  the voices she listened to ,  advice of those passed echoed within her .  her family would have encouraged her to take him into her arms ,  to hold him tight .  she could feel their hands against her back as to push them together ,  it lead her to look up to him .  ( she wanted to meet eyes with him ,  even though she knew . )   ❛ but ..  you`re here . ❜    seeing the scarred features ,  the red glow of his visor now discarded out of sight ,  her voice cracked .   ❛ y - you can do anything you`d like ..  just ,  please don`t leave . ❜    a choked sob broke past her throat ,  a few tears stinging at the corners of her eyes ,  wetting the fingertips of his glove .  but ,  she smiled ,  right through the tears .

           ❛ …  y - yes ,  you can kiss me. ❜

      “   you’re fighting monsters that don’t exist anymore   ...   ”   almost wistful , a passing glance. having grown accustomed to the peculiarity of humanity , haku is not alarmed by the stories that he can feel from this man. the pain itself is visible , through the scars and worn flesh , as though he were wearing PAIN like a second skin and spoke of DEATH like it were his mother tongue. how horrible , the spirit thinks. how terrible. he almost overwhelmed with sorrow , but knows it isn’t his life , knows it’s not his story -- so he straightens his back , glancing wearily at the masked man. life was no longer beautiful in this world.

what he called home is just an aching pain in his soul.
