What do you think it would be like if Azshara took a human consort? Mostly to try and smooth things over after the whole N'zoth debacle (hc that he's the source of the naga's immortality)

(so gonna be the lore nut and have it just as a human consort bc all the other elves lost their immortality, also I don’t need another Anveena Teague... but If you get hc’s for that part I would be curious to see it)

Azshara really messed it up, she was suppose to kill N’zoth, but failed because she was killed by the heroes, and now was left with N’zoth still being freed. She aided them, gave them the blade, and they defeated N’zoth. Perfect, one problem, she was alive and needed to put up a diplomatic front until she can regain her armies, like hell she was giving up on creating her old empire

Solution, quick, random, something that the races of Azeroth could not ignore. A marriage!

orcs, ugly, tauren, ugly, elves, they still hold grudges, dwarves or gnomes... too short. Nothing worked for her, but a human

She was in a rush of course, and ended up with someone who was... well he was no elf, terribly short, but all of them were. She made a point to actively try to please and cater to him while ambassadors were around, to ensure her people had the right to be a rightful kingdom.

But now, he’s a trophy husband, given everything, chosen to look pretty, Azshara loved him like she loved her wealth and power, materialistically, but that was ok with him cause it made him royalty

thoughts on dragons

So the dragon models provided in WoW are pretty homogeneous, and I like to hc that each flight actually can be recognized as separate outside of scale color. I work off of the dragon model variations of the Aspects, game art, the defunct RPG books, and what sounds the coolest.

Also throwing in some confirmed in game facts for my own sake. I’ve never been good at drawing dragons and don’t know much about reptile physiology and I 110000% would love people to add on/give input.

Here’s a useful side by side comparison of the adult dragon models. I never noticed the model variation until seeing this.

Green Dragons:

Females have one set of waved horns, males have two.

Poison/acid breath

Spend a large portion of the day sleeping

Good with illusions

Prefer swamps/jungles

Excellent swimmers

Poetry enthusiasts

Red Dragons

Females are larger

Tied with the black dragons for largest in average size

The most affable/willing to interact with the outside world

Fire breath that also can do funky vitality/health giving stuff

No habitat preference 

The best fliers

Gifted healers

Blue Dragons

Age and magical affinity lead to crystalline growths, leading to thicker scales and larger horns

Their wings are shaped like Kalecgos’s model

The smallest in average size

Frost/arcane breath

Prefer cold environments

Like to inscribe arcane runes on themselves

Book hoarders

Excellent teachers when they can be bothered to

Black Dragons

Slow fliers

Hella buff shoulders, necks, jaws, and strong claws for burrowing into rock

Big thiccc horns

Skilled elemental sorcerers (prior to corruption, they had a longstanding and deep connection with shaman and were even the mentors to some)

Lava/fire breath

Prefer hot subterranean environments

Rock enthusiasts, shiny or otherwise

Capable of basically “earth bending”

The most horns

Most variation in body type

Lightning/Sand breath

Prefer arid desert environments

Collectors

Stringent rule followers

But also bc of that prone to Renegade/family disappointments

idk i’ve been thinking a lot about night elves and esp how night elf families tend to be organized. the maternal side of the family is the Important side, where the eldest woman is referred to as shan’alunei. in lieu of surnames in a culture that holds a wide variation of traditions behind it, kaldorei might refer to themselves as [Name] [shan’alunei’s name]’dorei

thal'da - aunt

thol'da - uncle

thaldorei - matrilineal  cousin (da/das doesn’t apply for cousins. dara is applicable but deemed excessive in most situations, usually a cousin that you are very close to is referred to as a brother or sister.)

tholdorei - patrilineal cousin

turn “da” into “dara” to formalize it

“da” becomes “as” to indicate patrilineal relation. a half sister from your father would be your marin'as. “da” becomes “daras” for formalizing. most commonly used when referring to a relative that is older than you.

continued hc: darnassus was the name of the night elf settlement where the first temple dedicated to elune was on the shore of the well of eternity. it was an incredibly holy site that was obliterated in the wake of the shattering. that is where their language and their new capital on teldrassil got their names

tess was what stood between fuckers like her dad and godfrey who wanted to kill off some of the worgen they had been catching while they were working on a cure

thoughts on nelf features

don’t mind me just night elf headcanonononing

(for the sake of simplicity and not complete accuracy, I’m referring to azshara’s followers/the nobility caste as highborne and the lower class that tyrande/malfurion were a part of 10k years ago as kaldorei even though they’re both technically kaldorei)

thousands of years of having a strict hierarchical system that ran highborne/kaldorei daily lives made intermarriage between the arcane inclined nobility and kaldorei peasant class very rare. that combined with the closer proximity and interaction with the well of eternity that the highborne had, makes me like to think that they possessed distinct features that made it so even without their ostentatious wardrobes you could easily tell the difference between the two social classes despite them being of the same race.

what 10k years ago were considered features of great beauty and were associated with the highborne are in modern days now considered sickly and unappealing, and their opposites are valued.

-highborne tended to have paler skin and hair (a trait the kaldorei would nickname as being mana-bleached) -ears and eyebrows were thinner, but not shorter -slender features for both sexes (very fine bone structure, high cheekbones, long fingers etc) 

it was common for kaldorei born with enough of this features to try and integrate into the upper class

also completely random throw-in: since nelves are nocturnal, their pupils are slitted. a fact that is very hard to see because of the glow to their eyes

listen i think about night elves a lot

Saber cats are very long lived due to careful breeding and magic influenced evolution, but they have never been immortal like night elves. 

Night elves believe that the ‘soul’ of their closely bonded companion is carried on in it’s direct offspring. So Tyrande has had Ash’alah at her side since her youth through several generations of the original saber’s kin. Mementos of the previous saber are kept as a collar as good luck for it’s successor.

Since litters range from 1-4 cubs, the other cubs are ‘new’ sabers and are given to young night elves to bond with.

🌌 Shadow

🌌 Shadow magic is the easiest to interweave into other schools of magic. One of its dangers is that basic application is very instinctual and easily accessible. (Example: many rogues use shadow magic to stealth without really realizing it) That’s not to say that mastery of Shadow magic is easy, but both Shadow and Light at a superficial level comes very naturally to mortals, though which school varies from person to person. For whatever reason, Light doesn’t cooperate as much as Shadow does when a caster tries to get creative with application.

my general idea of recent gilnean history. threw in notes on the silver hand for figgeryboo bc she’s trying to figure out logistics with her gilnean and relation to the organization. :3

basically the general easy number to go by is that the was started 30-35 years ago and just pray that everyone you rp with follows the silent WoW rper agreement that everything is vague and awful and we don’t need to get super salty about people’s characters having backstories with slightly different timelines.
