Ward Vs. Barrera
Both fighters have good balance and ring generalship. Barrera is very strong and throws powerful punches, but appears slightly slower in handspeed to Ward. Ward is the more creative fighter offensively, and has a more varied defense as well.
Ward is the betting favorite at -750, with Barrera at +480 currently. Here are some of their key attributes to watch out for during the fight.
Barrera’s up and down jab:
Barrera mixes up the elevation of his jab well, and throws it with heavy force.
Barrera’s power combos with the right hand:
A long power looping right hand followed by a quick right uppercut.
Ward’s power counters off a parried jab:
Ward parries the jab, rolls, and comes up the center with a right shovel uppercut, left hook to the body, and clubbing right cross.
Ward’s power left hook with his right hand held high:
Ward will exchange from long range with rights and left hooks and keeps his right hand up high to block counters.
Ward’s footwork and consistent jab to the body:
Ward has excellent ring generalship and keeps constant pressure on his opponent with routine taps to the body.
