A couple of new boys! On the left is Herbie Westaxle, my boyfriend’s beetle racing necromancer and on the right is Wardd Akeley, a very nervous elementalist.

Thanks for the ask! I haven’t thought about Fexx in a while. Here you go:

5. Do they have any nicknames or pet names or other aliases?

Wardd doesn’t really have any nicknames but he does have what I guess you could call a stage name. He works at the asuran equivalent of a maid cafe and is super embarrassed about someone possibly recognizing him. So he used a nickname. I haven’t decided what it is yet tho…

Fexx had a good number of titles back when he was living under Rata Primus. Being a child of prophecy and the supposed savior of your people will do that. He’s left all of those behind and instead goes by the name given to him by the norn who trained him to hunt: Ratasson

15. What is the first thing people notice about them?

The first thing people notice about Wardd is that he perpetually looks incredibly nervous. This boy has resting anxious face which is fitting since he is in fact almost always very anxious. The other people notice is his eyes. Wardd has very striking violet eyes that are very pretty. He gets a lot of compliments about them that he never knows how to answer.

The first thing people notice about Fexx is his tattoos. The glowing designs wrap around his shoulders and down his arms. They look kind of out of place on an asura, almost like someone copied a sylvari’s glow lines. The ink was specially made from chak goop and designed so that Fexx would have light he could always carry with him down in the darkness beneath Rata Primus. These days he just uses it as a nightlight.

25. What are somethings they find difficult to do? Or say?

Wardd finds it difficult to relax. He was the first of his family to go to a Rata Sum college and worked himself incredibly hard to keep his scholarship. After he got kicked out, he was terrified to let his family down so he picked up a full time job and is trying to finish his degree at a smaller college in Soren Draa. He does not have a lot of free time and is very stressed.

Fexx finds it difficult to be in the dark for too long. After accidentally falling into a wayward portal gate, he ended up in the Shiverpeaks and saw the nighttime sky for the first time. He was entranced, staring for so long that he almost froze in place. The daytime sun might hurt his eyes but the thought of being completely in the dark again unsettles him.

Thank you! I’m gonna ramble about Wardd because he is a sweet boy

So after Wardd and Herbie get kicked out of college for missing finals, they go and take some time off in the Shiverpeaks. Yknow just backpack around, see the sights, relax, that sort of thing before trying to figure out what they’re gonna do with their lives now. And one day they’re in a steading and Wardd sees a flyer for some kind of gathering. Now, being an asura, Wardd thinks it’s for some kind of symposium or lecture or something and decides to attend. Somehow not putting together that 1) norn don’t really go in for those kinds of things and 2) what kind of symposium is held at a hot spring? So he shows up, sees the hot springs, sees the large number of very big, very nakey norn and just about dies of embarrassment. All of the norn thinks this is highly amusing but are still very welcoming and accepting of Wardd so despite everything he ends up joining in and hanging out with them. And realizing several things about himself. Namely that he really likes big men.

Thanks for the ask! Here’s a bit more about Wardd

11. Where did they grow up?

Wardd grew up in Desider Atum in a large family of traders and crafters. He fully expected to become a part of the family business until the day he accidentally set fire to a neighbor’s market stall. His life plan changed a bit after that.

18. What memory do they wish they could relive?

His first time visiting Rata Sum on orientation day for the College of Synergetics. It was his first time in the big city and he was fascinated by everything.

19. What memory do they wish they could forget?

Wardd would dearly dearly love to forget the day he and Herbie got kicked out of the College of Synergetics by Councilor Phlunt because they both missed the entirety of finals week.

7. Did they do well in school?

Very well. Wardd showed a talent for elemental magic at a young age and quickly proved to be a rather powerful magic user. He honed this talent with intense study, both in an effort to learn more for the sake of learning and as a means of earning a scholarship to attend a good college. He was that over achiever who was always asking for extra credit even though his grades didn’t need it.

8. How did their peers view them?

Wardd was the shy quiet kid who was probably better friends with his teachers than his fellow students. So he was seen as a bit weird, though he was ignored more than bullied. He did have some friends, mostly kids he hung out at the local skate park with. They thought he was chill if a bit high strung.

15. At what age did they leave home?

He left at 17 to go to college, though he’s been staying with his family off and on as his life has gotten very chaotic.

1. What is your character's reaction to a minor inconvenience? Such as getting their jumper caught on a door handle?

Someone’s grabbed him with obvious ill intent, panic time! Wardd is one of those people who jumps when you tap them on the shoulder, who frets when they forget something minor at home, who panics when they drop their drink all over the floor. The interesting flip side to this is that in a true crisis, Wardd basically has no panic left in him and becomes much more focused and confident. 

10. What kind of jokes make them laugh?

Inside jokes. Wardd has a big, close knit family with a million and one inside jokes that always make him smile. He thinks about them a lot while away at college and sometimes finds himself trying to explain them to Herbie, who has no idea what he’s talking about.

25. What are somethings they find difficult to do? Or say?

In day to day life, Wardd has a difficult time standing up for himself. He grew up outside of Rata Sum and was the first person in his family with any magical talent and the first to go to a Rata Sum college. He very much feels like the country bumpkin who has no idea what’s going on and finds it difficult to stand up to people who clearly know what they’re doing. 

27. What are their opinions on children? Do they view children as sweet angels or evil crotch goblins?

Somewhere in between. Wardd has a bunch of siblings and cousins who run the spectrum from sweet angel to crotch goblin. So it depends on the individual kid. Either way he’s pretty good at looking after children since he’s one of the older ones in the family.
