AvaLance Christmas & Canary Sisters Playlists

Hello, Merry Christmas! this first playlist I have made for you is based off your prompt of Christmas songs. While coming up with it I was trying to think of songs Ava and Sara would listen to together alone on Christmas. The result was a mix of traditional/popular Christmas music mixed with more romantic/sexual ones as lets be real after that birthday scene they would totally get down on Christmas.

This second playlist is a little bonus. I decided to compile a list of songs that remind me of Laurel and Sara as the iconic sister duo they are. A lot of these songs are from badass women like the canary sisters and I just personally see them fitting in with certain story arcs or the characters in general. Sunshine and Feathers for the fic association thing 👀

Oh my god, that fic happened so long ago now.

But if you wanna know something about it? I wanted to have like, a future scene where Sunny got back to her moms as an adult after meeting them in the past. I vaguely remember talking about the repercussion of Sunshine and Feathers but not what would happen so far as in the future.

Dinah and Laurel were supposed to see her come home after her death date in the timeline system changed then just hug her with all the love they had in their bodies. Man, I get nostalgic thinking about it now cuz it had a LOT of angst, hurt/comfort potential!

They’re out in the field when it happens. 

One moment Laurel is rambling on and on about how necessary it was for Mia to tag along for a simple routine patrol; the next she’s freezing on the spot, eyes narrowed. Mia pauses and listens for any troubling sound before she scans the nearby rooftops. Nothing. She even slowly walks to the edge of the building they’re standing on and peers down, keeping her steps light as she walks the entire perimeter. Still nothing. 

Mia frowns.

She walks back to where Laurel is still standing, and opens her mouth to ask just what the hell is going on, but the words never leave her lips. Laurel raises a finger in her direction, signaling her to wait, and Mia crosses her arms above her chest in annoyance, watching as that same finger moves to click at the comm in Laurel’s ear.

“Okay, what did I do now?” she so casually asks, and Mia’s frown only deepens. She’d had her comm on all that time and had heard nothing - unless Dinah had decided to use a private channel for whatever reason… 

Dinah’s voice comes through not a moment later, sounding as exasperated as ever. “You’ve left mud all over the couch! How many times have I told you to keep your boots off my furniture?” 

Well that sure answers the private channel question.

Laurel rolls her eyes. “Well, I’m sorry,” she begins, “I was dead tired last night after having to chase down that drunken idiot through the docks - I fell asleep the second my back hit the cushions.”

She hears Dinah let out a sigh. “Just make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

They don’t say much else after that and Laurel casually shuts off her comm and starts walking again, like nothing strange had just occurred. Mia stands frozen in place, wondering about the logistics of what she had just witnessed, and nearly jumps out of her own skin when Laurel is suddenly standing right next to her. 

“Something wrong?”

“How- how did you know?” she finds herself asking, curiosity getting the best of her. If Dinah wasn’t using a private channel to chastise Laurel, then there’s no way she would magically have guessed. “How did you know Dinah was upset with you right now?”

“Ah, that.” Laurel chuckles. “Call it intuition - either that or a screwed up sixth sense I have developed while living with Dinah. I always sense this… disturbance when she’s upset with me.”

Mia blinks at her like she’d just grown a second head. “Wait… You’re serious?”  

“Deadly,” Laurel casually says, lips curling up in a smirk. She turns around and starts walking again before Mia has a chance of figuring out if she’s telling the truth or not, throwing an, “Are you coming?” over her shoulder when she notices Mia isn’t following.

If the circumstances were any different, she may have thought those two were married or something.
