Small brass bound coopered naval rum cask. Full size grog barrels of this form were to be found on board ship to hold rum and was rationed out to the crew. This example was probably made to be presented to the ship’s captain or the wardroom, England, 1800 -1830

Bottle Ticket for Claret, c. 1805

The word claret on this bottle ticket is the English name for the light red wine from Bordeaux in south-west France. It was processed for the English market into a strong wine with a good flavour, but which was "intoxicating and not suitable for all stomachs". The anchor here indicates that this claret was served in the wardroom or Great Cabin aboard a ship.

Bottle tickets labelled the contents of a bottle or carafe, which could also contain spirits, sauces, toilet water or spirits. Contemporary gazettes have referred to "bottle tickets" since the 1770s, but it was not until the 1790s that they were established as wine or carafe labels.

Officer's Brandy keg with four tarnished brass/copper hoops. One end is dated 1765 over the tap hole, with the plug unfortunately absent. The other end is branded with a broad arrow over B O, for “Board of Ordnance”, the typical marking of the period.

The wardroom on DS9 is carpeted in hideous dull reds and greens, a common color scheme in Cardassian design. When the wardroom is not in use, the glowing white work-table, small ceiling lights, and windows cast a dim light on the carpet, which soaks it all up and obliterates it.
