Although I am generally happy with where my latest attempt at recreating a #germanic #warknife is going, I am already compiling my notes and critiques to get even closer on the next build. As you can see, I let the handle get a little away from me during the material isolation. There is too much room between the ring and the palm swell and between the palm swell and heel. The palm swell isn't too small (I thought it was at first) but it is a little small and that is accentuated by the fact that it ends up being in the wrong spot. If I had much bigger hands this might be perfect. The heel needed to be forged down more with a much sharper angle. It also looks like the angle of the handle needs to be adjusted to have the ring pulled up a few degrees higher. The wrought iron looks amazing. It is primarily wrought iron and thus a bendable blade, even though it is thick. A bit less iron to steel ratio in the next one should give it more rigidity and spring. Always push yourself to improve. Strive for better.
