They née time to acclimate. Don’t just throw them into the house together. You need them to get used to each other’s scents. Keep them in opposite rooms with the food near the door. Switch them between the rooms twice a day. As they become comfortable around the strange scent just creak the door open so they can see but not touch. The older cat will let you know.
