So I posted a photo earlier of the MorpheBrushes Warm Palette and the set of 8 red brushes I bought along with it. Thanks to HauteLook I got them both for such a good price. Anyway, it was definitely not what I was expecting. I’m not an expert on MAC eyeshadows but I’ve seen a lot of reviews comparing the two brands to each other. I tried applying the shadows with my own brushes first because I hadn’t unwrapped the Morphe set yet. My brushes picked up so much product that it was kind of overwhelming. They feel very creamy, and apply very well, but I was afraid they would kind of gunk up my brushes, and be hard to apply to the skin. However, I did a look with the shadows today using the actual Morphe brand brushes that I purchased with the pallet, and they applied like a dream. I do stand by the fact that the brushes are able to easily pick up a lot of product, so it would be wise to gently pat the brush in the product and go from there, because I learned that the hard way several times.
When I mentioned that the pallet was not what I was expecting, I was referring to the colors looking slightly different in the pot than they do on the skin. Swatch, swatch, swatch! before you apply to your eyes! Again, learned this the hard way. The colors are beautiful and very pigmented, but can be a bit misleading – they remind me of a few colors from the Urban Decay Anniversary Pallet that were very different looking once applied.
One gripe: the brushes shed! I found a few hairs under my eyes, and one in the pot of a color I’d sampled. BUT, for the price and quality of application, I can definitely over-look it.
Over-all though, there are 35 beautiful shades and such a great range of color. Very satisfied, and can’t wait to use the hell out of it!
