"I’m pregnant with your baby."
"C’mon, ya’ve gotta be kiddin’ me! We haven’t even…"
"Help, something's wrong with my eyes - I just can't take them off you"
Yuan's initial reaction was quick to worry over the woman, but as she began to finish her sentence a wave of relief and annoyance came. Relieved that there wasn't actually anything wrong with her, and annoyed because he was actually worried at first. "I will leave if it's a problem."
If you came in the middle of the night, I would first offer you tea. Then a warm blanket while I let you vent, telling me about your problems. A nice warm bath and a cozy bed after and I'll sing you to sleep. I'll stay as long as you need me to.
"Thank you, Marian." He said quietly, almost a hush of a whisper.
"Oh! Sir Yuan!" she chirped, happily. "Happy birthday!" With a grin, she shoved a large package into his hands before hurrying off. Within the package was a custom made cloak, a scarf, and a pair of gloves. A note within stated: "Winter is coming, so please stay warm. Happy Birthday, Sir Yuan."
The calling of his name made the half-elf jump. Sighing out a bit and turning to see Marian all chipper with a package in her hands that soon found it's way to his own. Blinking in a dazed state, he forced on a smile of his own as he watched her form hurrying off. Once he knew that she was too far away to see his features, his smile faded down. Pulling at the note to flip it open and read what was on it. Crumbling the note into his pocket, he turned away and began to return to his own abode. The package heavy in his hands, and her feelings weighing on his heart. She truly was too kind.
Butler for a Day [Marian and Lion]
He'd been hesitant to pull through with the idea. He wasn't useless in the kitchen, but it wasn't something he often had the chance to actually do. The toast had been easy enough, but once he moved to the eggs and bacon his hesitation grew. Most of the meals he'd made before had been instant of some form. Those he was good with.
This... was more complicated. Still, he'd made sure to follow the cookbook carefully, following each instruction and checking it more than once. If nothing else, at least he could be convinced he wasn't poisoning the woman who had watched over him all these years.
"It... should be fine," the knight assured himself quietly, arranging the breakfast on a tray. Out of everything he'd made, the tea was the only thing he was certain would be good. At least that was something, and something was better than a complete disaster. Behind him, he could hear the sound of Chaltier laughing at his hesitation, which only resulted in a harsh glare from the raven as he headed toward the stairs.
"...Keep it up and I'll be leaving you in my room for the day." That had gotten the silver-haired swordian to quiet down quick enough.
Once he'd made it to the second floor, Lion carefully made way through the halls, stopping outside the door he knew to be Marian's. Using his foot, he knocked twice before he balanced the tray in one arm and pushed the wooden barrier open. "Marian?" he spoke quietly, eyes slipping shut just in case. He really didn't need another incident like that. He'd walked in on Rutee once before -- his sister of all people -- and vowed never to walk in another female's room with open eyes again. "Are you awake?"
(¬‿¬) "My mun requested I give you this, for some reason."
"M-Marian?! Ya know that’s the thing that makes me strip, right?" All he had left was his shirt, pants, and underwear… His choice was clear. He dropped his pants, wincing apologetically.
She shook her head, nearly frantically. "No! I believe what I feel to be the truth! I know it more now than ever. I love you. I love you, Yuan. I..." she broke off, a little sad. Her next words were quiet, barely audible. "but you still love her, and could never love me."
He did his best to reform his features to that of one stoney gaze. This wasn't the time that he could let his emotions get in the way. He needed to think logically about this matter. Marian, a very sweet woman was confessing her love to him, but even she hinted that his heart still belonged to Martel. He needed to think quick and respond reassuringly. Should he reject her flat out? Somehow, even if it sounded like the best option he couldn't will his mouth to open and say it. Accept her love? He had no love to give to her. He wasn't capable of love any more. Merely leading her on would just crush her in the end. In the end, he didn't come up with a quick response. He stood there with a stony gaze as he attempted to figure it out. Eventually when he found out he couldn't come up with an answer, he averted his gaze with worry evident on his face. "You are too kind, Marian. To have such feelings for me, is an honor, but you should not waste them on me. I am far unworthy of your love. Even in regards to her, I am unsure of myself." He responded in a hushed voice. He was wrong before. He was capable of love. He did love, Marian. He did love, Martel. He just could never allow himself to admit it. To express it. To let his own heart break once more. People always died around him. To see Marian die because of him, would be the worst.
