Summary: When a spell goes horribly wrong the nations has to work together to solve the problem.
Ya’ll ready for this?
okay but like...the last post I reblogged was talking about the Hale family dog, and Homeward Bound was mentioned in it. now, one of the dogs in Homeward Bound was named Shadow, and his owner was named Peter
so what if Peter got a dog and decided to name it Shadow for laughs because of that movie. (it came out in '93, so Peter would've been, what, late teens/early twenties?) but unlike the dog in that post or in the movie, there's no way Peter's Shadow could still be alive. it was roughly twenty years ago; even if the dog had survived the fire, it would have died of old age already. and Peter was no stranger to death even then. Talia must have inherited the alpha power from one of their parents, so Peter has already seen death, and knows that dogs don't have long life spans. still, he mourned his dog in the only way he could during his coma.
afterwards, when Peter is resurrected, he goes through what little bodily remains didn't get collected or scavenged from the house after the fire. Shadow had a favorite cupboard he liked to sleep in. he was hiding in it when the fire happened, and afterwards, no one knew to look for him there, the police thinking the family dogs had run off or something. Peter finds the body there in the cupboard, mostly bones with bits of fur clinging to it.
I like to think that Peter still has some moments of insanity, where he loses time or just starts forgetting what year it is. so he sits and holds what's left of his dog's body, talks to it like he used to, pets along the remaining bits of fur. when he snaps out of it, he stares into the empty eye sockets of his dog's skull, sits there for a long time grieving all over again. he carefully transports the body out to his car, takes it to a taxidermist to have the bones cleaned. most of the skeleton gets put in a box in Peter's closet.
the skull gets carried around the apartment with him. it goes from the kitchen counter to the armrest of the couch to Peter's bedside table, gets carried around in his car sometimes.
he goes to a pack meeting at Derek's loft (even though Peter isn't pack, not with Scott as alpha). as soon as he walks in, he sees the drool monster he thought had also died in the fire, now quite a bit older and several pounds heavier, drooling on Derek's shoulder. Ruffles the English Bulldog had always liked Derek better, but Peter hadn't cared because he'd had his own dog. now Derek's got his dog back and Peter's dog is dead, and it's like a slap in the face. Peter just stands there silently for several moments, then he turns and leaves without saying a word.
he goes and sits in his car, pets and cradles his dog's skull, all that he has left of the only true and faithful friend Peter ever had.
(if he cries a bit, well, that's between him and his Shadow.)
In Your Arms (Prompt from sasha-potato-girl-braus)
(Tech's (the kids' father) POV, after "The Final Battle")
"Maybe it's silly of me to write these letters. I was told that sometimes it's a good coping mechanism.
Part of me wants to believe you'll see these. Actually, not just a part. All of me.
It's been too long now, since I've been in your arms.
I keep thinking about the first time you hugged me. You were scared, you barely knew me, but you trusted me. You held me close and ever since then it felt so natural to be in your arms.
A new moment comes to mind each time I think about it. Your playful pounces on my shoulders when I was working away, the times you clung to me tightly when you were afraid or sad, the way your arm wrapped around my body as you slept peacefully with your head resting in the crook of my arm, your arms slipping around me as you hugged me from behind early in the morning while I made breakfast. I miss it.
Then I think of the sleepless nights I spent, working away at projects while you slept alone; how patiently you waited for me to finish.
It's then that I realize I took advantage of the time I had with you.
It's then that I remember how you held me close and whispered, "I believe in you" while I held your life in my hands.
It's then that I want to feel your arms around me again, even if it's just once more.
It's then that I want to be in your arms again."
I can still hear his violin sometimes, late at night when I can't sleep.
That quote from Colin, though, pretty much CONFIRMS that we were seeing the reemergence of Killian Jones up on the beanstalk.
He was truly living for the moment up there, with her. He was in NO RUSH, in fact, most of his plans up there involved waiting around, taking their time, etc. There were no ulterior motives, no nothing. All he really cared about up there was ... well, them.
There's really no point to this post except I'm drowning in feels and I wanted to make you guys hurt with me.
“Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up. You build up all these defenses, you build up a whole suit of armor, so that nothing can hurt you, then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life...You give them a piece of you. They didn't ask for it. They did something dumb one day, like kiss you or smile at you, and then your life isn't your own anymore."

It's from a Steve/Tony fanfic actually, Jesus, that quote. And the series. See source link.
