Protecting guests
(NIV) Genesis 19.8 - Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don't do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof.
Lot's attempt to protect the men is valiant, but even I might question his approach. He sees the request of these men as wrong, so he is trying to persuade them to go for an alternative. This alternative could put his family in danger, which is presumably also under the protection of his household. Since this is the case, I would assume that the only wrongdoing in Lot's opinion for this instance would come from homosexuality. I also assume that Lot considers them visitors as ordinary as anyone.
