From Australian Geographic Image of the Week; August 14, 2017:
Fluff-face Joseph Schubert
“This fluffy-faced jumping spider (Jotus auripes) was found in Warrandyte, Victoria. It's about 4mm long and has iridescent pedipalps (front legs) which are used to attract a mate.”
The jumping spider family contains over 600 described genera and more than 5800 described species, making it the largest family of spiders worldwide. They are recognisable, not only by their ability to jump, but by their eye pattern. All jumping spiders have four pairs of eyes, with the front pair being particularly large.

Two lovely snakes seen this week in Warrandyte where the local snake catcher is seen holding them after a day of snake handler and snake removal work at the end of summer. The snakeman is the only 24/7 snake handling expert for snake control and reptile relocation in the Warrandyte, Park Orchards, Wonga Park area.
