The Qemists are, in many ways, something of a Qonundrum. They’re rock kids seduced by the dancefloor, dance kids equally happy playing live
Originally I wanted to upload this on its 10 year release date anniversary in March but I missed the date, and I'm not entirely sure if I was already listening to it in March of 2016, so here it is in July, when I was definitely listening to it, because I remember playing it on repeat during Ramadan in 2016, which started in June and ended in July back then.
This is probably the album I've listened to most consistently in the past decade, which is a little funny, because I don't listen to a lot of drum and bass outside of that. But I've actually been trying to change that since I realized how often I come back to this album because of how versatile it is, at least to me.
I think you can listen to this while being angry, while sad, while excited, while happy, while bored and needing to get chores done around the house, while writing your assignment last minute that's due in less than an hour to hype yourself up. Truly an all purpose album.
I just wanna know where you stand,
Do you stand with the powerful, privileged
Those people who look down on us?
Or do you stand with your brothers and sisters on the ground?
You wanna talk about the one percent?
One percent of what they spend on weapons in a year
Could send every single kid to school
How do I stop this madness?
